Sintimex Services
The maintenance of fire extinguishers' standard recommends to the Security Officer, the achievement of the following services:
1) Quarterly Verification: visual inspection that can be done by following a checklist of 7 steps:
1 - Is the fire extinguisher in an adequate place and are the maintenance dates valid?
2 - Is the seal broken?
3 - Is the service label legible and in good shape?
4 - Is the extinguisher in good condition?
5 - Is the access not blocked and is there signage?
6 - Are the handling instructions visible, legible and undamaged?
7 - In case of manometer, is the pressure correct?
2) Annual Maintenance: It is necessary to perform an annually maintenance that involves the handling of the extinguisher to verify the good condition of it's agent and parts;
3) Additional Maintenance: Performed every 5 years for dry chemical extinguishers and every 10 years for CO2 extinguishers or whenever it is detected a nonconformity (according to the assumptions presented in the NP 4413:2006 standard);
4) Recharging Extinguishers: Must be performed whenever:
- The extinguisher has been used, even partially;
- The quality of the chemical powder does not meet the acceptance criteria;
- The extinguisher has not been operated by us in a year, since we can not guarantee the quality and validity of the chemical powder inside.
